Introduction:
In the face of great need, we propose to open and operate a new school
in Kathmandu, Nepal. This school will provide up to 60 students with
four daily classes in: Nepalese language, English language, Mathematics,
and Personal Hygiene.
Background:
Nepal is a landlocked country located just North of India. The country’s
population of just over 27 million people is made up of many religious
and cultural groups including Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims. A country
of beautiful tolerance, it is also “…among the poorest and
least developed countries in the world with 42% of its population living
below the poverty line.” Part of the reason behind this poverty
is a lack of educational opportunities. In Nepal, illiteracy stands
at 55% and unemployment at a staggering 47%.
Budget:
Please note that 100% of all money collected for this project will
go directly towards:
• Leasing property in Katmandu
• Building necessary facilities
• Providing educational materials and instruction
• Providing school uniforms
• Providing daily meals
• Building playground equipment
